Cara

Growing up in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, Cara Stievater is a sophomore in high school. She was first introduced to STEM during a mandatory cycle class she took in 8th grade. With her passionate teacher and half-functioning Scratch game, Cara became amazed with the possibilities of code. The summer going into her Sophomore year, Cara took a web and development course with Girls Who Code. There she learned how to program without the restricting blocks that Scratch offered. From here, Cara hopes to broaden her knowledge of programming and take more classes for coding.

Kylie

Kylie is 15 and going into her junior year of high school. As captain of her school’s robotics team, the only all girls team on Long Island, she has a strong interest in STEM and female representation in the field. In hopes of spreading resources and getting other girls to participate in STEM clubs such as robotics, she created Our STEM Circle while at a Girls Who Code summer program.
